Classes of Membership

Who Should Join

The following are the classes, requirements and dues, for membership in CHPA:

 

All individuals who submit an application for membership will also be required to demonstrate eligibility. Eligibility for membership may be demonstrated by presentation of one or more of the following:

* A copy of the individual’s DD 214, or specified Allied Coalition Partner equivalent, showing credit for service in a recognized theater
* A copy of unit orders with the applicant's name
* A copy of award orders for medal/ribbon for service in a recognized theater
* A copy of official Individual Flight Records showing combat helicopter flight time
* A copy of official Personal Finance Records showing receipt of Imminent Danger Pay

 

Or, other official document acceptable to the Board of Directors, which clearly shows the requirements for membership have been met.

 

Pilot Members: Pilot Membership, with annual dues of $40.00 or lifetime dues based on applicant age, shall be granted to any individual who requests membership and is found by the Membership Committee to meet all of the following requirements:

  • Served as a helicopter pilot flying combat missions for any of the United States  Uniformed Services during the following times June 25, 1950, to January 31, 1955; February 28, 1961, to May 7, 1975; August 24, 1982, to July 31, 1984; December 20, 1989, to January 31, 1990; August 2, 1990, to the date of cessation of hostilities as determined by the Government of the United States, all dates inclusive; or served as a helicopter pilot flying combat missions in any branch of service during a declared war, undeclared conflict, police action, or other military event directed by the US government, in which combat flight operations against an armed enemy force comprised an integral component in advancing US national interests, and,
  • Was awarded a combat service medal so indicating; and,
  • Was not dishonorably discharged from military service; and
  • Submits to CHPA the prescribed application and annual dues, and remits the prescribed annual dues in US dollars on or about each anniversary of their membership.
JOIN AS A PILOT MEMBER

 

Flight Crew Member: Flight Crew Membership, with annual dues of $40.00 or lifetime dues based on applicant age, shall be granted to any individual who requests membership and is found by the Membership Committee not to meet the requirements of either Pilot Membership or Legacy Membership, but:

  • Served as a helicopter flight crew member during combat operations, and was awarded the right to wear flight crew member wings or the equivalent insignia for any of the United States Uniform Services during the following times June 25, 1950, to January 31, 1955; February 28, 1961, to May 7, 1975; August 24, 1982, to July 31, 1984; December 20, 1989, to January 31, 1990; August 2, 1990, to the date of cessation of hostilities as determined by the Government of the United States; all dates inclusive; or served as a  helicopter flight crew member during combat missions in any branch of service during a declared war, undeclared conflict, police action, or other military event directed by the US government in which combat flight operations against an armed enemy force comprised an integral component in advancing US national interests, and,
  • Was awarded a combat service medal so indicating; and,
  • Was not dishonorably discharged from military service; and
  • Submits to CHPA the prescribed application and annual dues, and remits the prescribed annual dues in US dollars on or about each anniversary of their membership.
JOIN AS A FLIGHT CREWMEMBER

 

Friend of CHPA: Membership in the CHPA Foundation as a Friend of CHPA, with annual dues of $40.00 for Individual or $60.00 for Corporate, shall be granted to any individual or Corporation who requests membership in the CHPA Foundation and is found by the Membership Committee not to meet the requirements of other categories of membership, and

  • Submits to CHPA the prescribed application and annual dues, and remits the prescribed annual dues in US dollars on or about each anniversary of their membership.
  • Meets the requirements as established in a policy adopted by the Board of Directors regarding Friend of CHPA Membership in the CHPA Foundation. 
JOIN AS A FRIEND OF CHPA

 

Legacy Members: Legacy Membership shall be granted to any individual who requests membership and is found by the Membership Committee to meet all of the following requirements

  • The individual is an immediate family member (Wife, Husband, (Step) Mother, (Step) Father, (Step) Brother, (Step) Sister, (Step) Daughter, (Step) Son, or direct descendant of a deceased individual who was or would have qualified for as a CHPA member, and

  • Submits to CHPA the prescribed application and annual dues, and remits the prescribed annual dues in US dollars on or about each anniversary of their membership.
JOIN AS A LEGACY MEMBER
