Membership

Pilot Membership in the Combat Helicopter Pilots Association (CHPA) is open to those individuals who were, or are, rated US military helicopter pilots who are not dishonorably discharged and who flew combat missions in any branch of service during a declared war, undeclared conflict, police action, or other military event directed by the US government in which combat flight operations against an armed enemy force comprised an integral component in advancing US national interests.

 

Flight Crewmember Membership in the Combat Helicopter Pilots Association (CHPA) is open to those individuals who were, or are, non-rated US military helicopter crew members who are not dishonorably discharged and who flew combat missions in any branch of service during a declared war, undeclared conflict, police action, or other military event directed by the US government in which combat flight operations against an armed enemy force comprised an integral component in advancing US national interests. Crew Membership is also available to those individuals who are not dishonorably discharged and who served in any capacity in Helicopter Units engaged in combat whose duties had a direct effect on those combat operations.

 

All individuals who submit an application for membership will also be required to demonstrate eligibility. Eligibility for membership may be demonstrated by presentation of one or more of the following:

  • A copy of the individual’s DD 214, or specified Allied Coalition Partner equivalent, showing credit for service in a recognized theater
  • A copy of unit orders with the applicant's name
  • A copy of award orders for medal/ribbon for service in a recognized theater
  • A copy of official Individual Flight Records showing combat helicopter flight time
  • A copy of official Personal Finance Records showing receipt of Imminent Danger Pay

 

Or, other official document acceptable to the Board of Directors, which clearly shows the requirements for membership have been met.
