About the Lone Star Chapter

Lone Star Chapter at VHPA ...
The Lone Star chapter proudly welcomed CHPA members to join them at the VHPA convention in San Antonio for a small gathering in conjunction with our chapter meeting!
The meeting was held on Thursday, July 3rd, from 6-8 pm during the VHPA National Reunion. Members met at the historic Menger Bar. There was a short meeting consisting of chapter business, which adjourned quickly in favor of socializing!
Meeting agenda included:
1. Location for next Lone Star Chapter Quarterly Meeting! (Ft. Hood Area)
2. Discussion of what we want to do! (Potential camp out!?)
3. Minutes from our last meeting/Wings and Beer (Did someone take notes? haha!)
4. Update on number and names of members in Lone Star Chapter
5. Toasts to the 4th ID guys who will be in Iraq by this time
6. Other business (Patches? Shirts?)
FYI ...
The Menger Bar is a very historically relevant location. Teddy Roosevelt recruited many of the roughriders, volunteers for the American Cavalry in the Spanish-American war in the Menger Bar, which is an exact replica of the House of Lords Pub in London. The architect, who was sent to England to examine the pub, installed a paneled ceiling of cherrywood, booths and beveled mirrors from France, and decorated glass cabinets at a cost of $60,000. Although the taproom was built in 1887, The Menger Hotel was erected 23 years after the fall of the Alamo, in 1859, and is located right across the street from Texas' most famous standoff! The Menger Hotel and Bar is a very awesome location and a San Antonio must-see! It is located at 204 Alamo Plaza.
Wings and Beer was a huge success!

The Lone Star Chapter ...
CHPA has formed our first Regional Chapter in Texas.
HISTORY ...
Members met in Killeen, TX on September 8th, 2007 and voted to name the chapter "Lone Star." There are no additional fees or dues to participate in the Lone Star Chapter.
The first official meeting was held in conjunction with CHPA's National Reunion and Meeting in Las Vegas, NV during November 2-4th, 2007. The second meeting was held January 19th in Fort Worth, TX at Riscky's Steakhouse, located in the Historic Stockyards.
MEMBERSHIP ...
CHPA Lone Star currently has approximately 100 members around the state of Texas and "abroad." Membership in CHPA Lone Star is FREE to CHPA Members in good standing.
GATHERINGS ...
CHPA Lone Star attempts to meet quarterly and two of the four meetings ideally occur in the Fort Hood, Texas area.
